(From a previous blog site; written back in April, 2017)
I need to hire a house cleaner. It is definitely not a strength of mine. I like having a clutter-free home, but I also know where everything is. I will start to clean a section and I totally forget what I’m doing when I get distracted by another chore. Squirrel!
Today, while attempting to clean my room, I found a list of things I was grateful for. I wrote the list about two years ago, and while reading through it, I had a light-bulb moment. I realized the things I was thankful for back then have only grown and become even more fulfilling! I added to the list in my mind and thanked the universe again for making my life amazing. I called my boyfriend and told him how grateful I am for him. He’s patient with me, keeps me grounded, is sensitive to my needs, and is learning the importance of my “Savannah-time”. He’s thoughtful, understanding, funny he makes sure I’m fed. So many things to be grateful for!
After that, I had a good long crying-laugh or laughing-cry! I realized how PERFECT my life is and how grateful I am. My daughter pointed out yesterday that I have such a fun job watching dogs. “You get paid to play with dogs!” I have fun “jobs” period! I love massaging people, I get as much benefit from it as they do. I love making people feel good. I enjoy networking with people at the restaurant too. I really like my co-workers and I have had some great conversations with my tables, I’m excited to get behind the bar and have some closer connection to my guests. That’s what they are, they are guests in my “home”. Everyone is family or friend, we are all connected, so I want people to feel welcomed. I get excited just to teach people about essential oils! I believe in the power of plants and their essences. I have experienced healing first hand many times with oils, acupuncture, homeopathic medicine, flower essences, yoga, herbs, etc. I want the WORLD to know how to help facilitate healing in their bodies, minds and spirits. It’s also awesome when I can get paid to spread knowledge. I’m using that money as a tool, a resource to help build something wonderful for others. I also have the pleasure of helping women talk about sex! I am able to educate, empower and entertain them. I believe sex and creativity are beautiful things that need to be expressed in a healthy way. I can help guide them and I even get some creative ideas myself! I also have generated income from sharing and selling my art. I am so blessed.
It’s such a great validation that gratitude is powerful, because I wrote about how much I loved my job two years ago. I’ve only become happier, have more to be grateful for and love my life and sources of income even more! Adopting an “attitude of gratitude” has served me very well. I like to write a list of just ten things I’m grateful for every day. I read them again and really FEEL it. My daughter and I tell each other five things we are grateful for, five things we like about ourselves and five things we like about the other. It’s a really great practice and I notice a huge difference in her mood afterwards as well. She’s calm, full of love, and genuine. Something as simple as saying “Thank you” a few times a day to yourself is a great start. If you can’t think of anything you are grateful for at the moment, just say “I am thankful”.
I am thankful for everything I’ve ever experienced in my entire life. Today, I am thankful I got the bed made! I am thankful I have a place of my own to clean. I’m thankful I have many rooms and possessions to keep organized and clean. I’m thankful that I have the option of hiring a cleaner and the physical ability to do it myself!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank You.
